Key Things to Know About DAFT Timing
- Start 6 months early. The FBI background check is the longest lead time item and should be ordered as early as possible.
- Apostille times vary. California and New York can take 8+ weeks. Smaller states may process in 3-4 weeks.
- IND processing takes 6-8 weeks. Submit your application at least 2 months before your planned move date.
- Book housing and flights after IND approval. Do not book non-refundable travel until you have your approval in hand.
